The day began with gray overcast skies. We were talking about going to get Carl a new pair of jeans and Bella some more new dog food, since she liked it so much, when we heard this thunk on the boat. It was a very hard hit. Carl goes to the side to see what it was, and he sees a seagull floating in the bay.The bird had flown right into the dingy and broke its neck., what he couldn't see the boat. Was it flying with its eye's shut.. Bad navigational skills.. We couldn't believe it...Took Bella for a walk and got ready to go, she had to stay home today. As we were leaving we saw Ed and he told us of a bus stop, so we headed over there. The bus depot turned out to be a old train station built in 1928. It was really nice to see they kept it and are still using it for transportation.. The bus took us all the way to the Kmart shopping center, that had a thrift store, Big Lots and a pet store. Good we could get everything we needed there. Carl jeans were down to one ratty pair, we needed new coffee cups and Bella needed more food too. We were able to get everything but Bella's food so we decided to head over to the other pet store. We couldn't take the bus as 1. we couldn't find the stop and 2. we wouldn't be able to get back on the bus with our round trip tickets, to get back to Ocean City, after stopping at the pet store. Just as we were about to leave it started raining, we needed poncho's , but the dollar store didn't have any.. What to do.. Oh yeah how about garbage bags.. That sounds good.. Then I say to Carl why don't you go ask the dry cleaner for a couple of cleaner bags... He does and he returns with 2 bags one for each of us.. We make the necessary holes in them and get them on, then head out.. We chose to hitchhike since we have been so lucky at it and it was raining.. Lets just say you don't get picked up in New Jersey... I mean really do you think we looked strange with cleaner bags on or what.. Did they think we were serial killers, or just plain crazy..So we walked the 1 1/2 miles to the pet store in the rain, but still we had fun..At the pet store the clerks helped us figure out how to catch the bus and when. It was gonna be another 40 minutes so we say what the heck, we can just walk over the bridge.. Up the bridge we went, when we got almost to the top we noticed there were 2 bridges not one, and man did that look far..(2.5 miles across). So back down the bridge we came , headed for the bus stop. Oh how nice to be on the bus..Dry and Easy..Back at the depot we walked over to the grocery store to get Ed a birthday cake to go along with dinner. Called Ed and we chose to have dinner at 6:30 with showers..I made fish piccata, steamed potatoes with red pepper and green beans, salad and onion bread I picked up at the store.. Ed loved it. After dinner we watched a movie with Ed, sang Happy Birthday, Rosie style ( those who have had the pleasure of that can relate) then we ate cake.. It was a fine day was all I thought as I tuned into bed. We couldn't move today, still waiting for that weather window..
