Bella started bugging us to get up when she heard all the other boaters leaving for the next stop up the swamp. Carl and I are not ones to go with the crowd, so we got out of bed and I made coffee and tea and fired up the computer, and Carl checked his charts. I posted my blog and asked Carl what time he wanted to leave, which happened to be then, so he headed to the bathrooms and I made breakfast.Up the lazy river we cruised. It is a very pretty cruise. Now the river has some bends in it and a few things to see on the side, like horses, homes and docks. We went though our second lock today, the Locke tender had to go push some grass or seaweed though so he could close the gates. The river has green seed like looking things covering it , it looks like you are cruising over grass. They are called Duck Weed, they are each an individual plant. I was told this by the people where we stopped to fuel up at Lamb's Marina. Who by the way let us take a free, wonderful warm shower. This was a great little marina with a store and a good price on fuel. Awesome people, stop here if you ever come this way..After we left the marina we arrived at Elizabeth City, the Harbor of Hospitality. What a great place, they have 14 free dock slips, and a wine and cheese party everyday there are 5 or more boats there to welcome you to the city.. There were at least 10 boats with us, so they had the party. The old mayor and Susan who is in charge of tourism hosts it. They tell you of everything the town has to offer, like free ride to the grocery, free bikes to use, free museum, guides to historical walks though town and every business you may need. This was great, never have we on any other port received such a welcome for the masses. We have received many a warm welcome at many a port on our trip, but it was just us.. America at its best...After the party I was playing with Bella in the park at the dock when Bella met a little young lady Elizabeth, boy did they have fun.. They ran around for quite a while, we all loved it. Elizabeth used her energy and Natalie (her mom) and I got to talk while they wore each other out. When they had had enough I invited them aboard to see the boat, Elizabeth loved it. She wanted to live on it. then I asked it she would miss her friends and that changed everything. I made dinner and we talked with Lena and Ron as they were next to us at the dock. We hope to met up with them again, great people,we loved them.. Today its laundry and checking out the town.
