As we sit in this inlet and wait for our weather window, I notice all the unique sounds our vessel makes. Just like an old house our old boat has its our special sounds. The sound of the flag blowing in the wind causeing the sheet to hit the standing rigging's. The creaks like an old house that is settling. The gentle slapping of the water against the haul, then the loud smack of a larger wave. The wind howling in the wind generator that varies with the wind, keeping the power topped off. The refrigeration just like the generator going on and off. The sound of the anchor lines rubbing on the bow sprit, as we bounce up and down. All of the things you really don't notice when in route. Happy are we to have the television available on occasion for the distraction from the sounds. Today we sit once again hopping to leave on Wednesday and to travel as long and as far as the week will take us. The weather is quite chilly and the moisture in the boat is on going. It takes being wiped down a couple of times a day to keep the interior dry. The heat of our blankets and bodies cause a fogging of the port holes. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and hot soup are the food for the day. Bella in her sweater and in the blankets with us.These are all the things that together keep us warm and safe. Wednesday the weather is going to be warmer and the seas are to be good to go for a couple of days, so today we will fuel up, pump out and fill the water tank. Tonight we drop the hook hopefully one last time in this inlet, then hit the seas tomorrow as we make our way to Norfolk,V.A. We sure wish it would only take a day, but alas it may take a few..

May the weather cooperate and get you safe to Norfolk, the humidity is supposed to drop here at home, finally, and maybe we'll see some cooler weather, it's still downright hot.
ReplyDeleteWe hope the weather is in your favor this week so that you can continue your trek home. Still hot here, the weather is suppose to cool a little, the mornings are nice however.
