Lets talk about what we have and haven't been doing.. We have been sailing around the Chesapeake Bay we haven't had any internet or phone coverage... We left Urbanna after a night of heavy storms hoping there would have been some wind left to sail by in the morning. We pulled our lines as soon as Dad and I had walked to the store to get him some cream for his coffee, of course Bella was in tow. The entire RV park had no power, but that didn't stop the store from making money. We hit the Rappahannock River and set sail to Irvington. We were able to sail for about 1 hour when the winds died down to nothing, so as usual we started the motor. Dad even took his turn at the helm, while Carl checked the motor and I cooked breakfast .Upon arrival in Irvington we topped off our fuel and water and set anchor for an wonderful afternoon in town. We anchored just off the Marriott resort and took the dingy in. We had to make two trips as all of us can't go at the same time, past the weight limit.,. Yeah,Yeah Yeah, I head you laugh....Up the hill we went headed for town.. It was hot as the dickens out there and I thought we would melt. That's when we spotted the trolley sign , cool.. we will catch the trolley. I walked back to the resort to inquire if we missed it and they said yes but it would be back in another hour. I asked for where I could get water and was given 3 bottles ...free..Bonus... I love when they think we are guests...The walk was not to long before we hit the Steamboat Museum... Awesome we wanted to check it out but we wanted A/C more.. It turned out to be pretty cool, the curator gave us the beginning tour and let us finish it ourselves.. Steamboats ran the Chesapeake until 1937 when cars and trains had replaced the need for them. They were colorful ships only they had paddle wheels on the sides of the boat instead of the back. They were an event at each port they stopped at, most people of the town would come out to see them. They even had a traveling theater on board that did shows in all the towns. As a passenger you could be as high end or as frugal as needed to be. As early passenger ships they catered to all needs and incomes. We left there and headed for town, only there wasn't any town.. Really no town at all... Beware of what you read on the internet, some things could be exaggerated ..We did find one store open and were able to get a cool drink at but they were gonna close at 5pm. When we found no town we decided to take the trolley to where it went to see what we could see..While waiting Carl choose to direct traffic on the main intersection...However there was not traffic, only the local sheriff parked close by to see what the heck was going on..Lucky for Carl he saw the trolley and came an sat down on the bench before the cop came over.... On the trolley nothing but stores and roads just like any town America, only difference was.. we only paid a quarter to ride and it had A/C... At least we didn't have to stand in the heat.. On the way back to the boat our dingy motor had been acting up so Carl put some carburetor cleaner in it and was running it all about, when Bella decided she wanted to go too. Dad and I watched while playing a game of domino's, as they circled around the boat .. Once they were done dinner was made and we settled down for a quite evening.Another storm rolled in during the night, but we were anchored out of the wind so it wasn't that bad. I guess all this heat is causing all these storms...More to come about the rest of the trip, later.. Time for bed..
