Early morning we pulled anchor and headed east to Tangier Island a small crabbing community about 30 miles across the bay. We hoped to sail but with all this heat there is almost no wind at all.The waves were about 1.5ft high and with all the heat, Dad didn't feel so well. I'm very sad to report that he was sea sick... The poor man., nothing makes you feel worse...We didn't have any Draimine aboard but we did have some drops you can put behind your ears, it helped some but once your sea sick, it's rather late. Dad laid down and took a nap and that helped. Dolphins were playing off the starboard side , there must have been about 6 or 8 of them but we didn't want to wake Dad to see them.  I know he would have liked that...Then the fuel line got air in it and that caused a short delay..It's not a good feeling when that happens... We only had a few miles to go when dad woke up. Entering the channel there were crab shanty's completely lining the water way.It was like taking a trip back in time. This is the stuff adventures are made of...What fun...  Arrival at this dock was something else. We called on the phone no one answered, called on the radio again no answer, when we pulled up it didn't seem anyone was there. I saw a small boat and asked it anyone worked there and they said just pull in and the man who owns it lives in the brick house, just knock on the door. Milt was working the dock as we pulled up. He was 81 years old and had lived here all his life. He was a trip, he rode his scooter up and down the dock directing people on what to do. He helped tie us up and asked where we were from, once tied up we headed onto shore. Dad still wasn't feeling well so we headed for some A/C or shade as fast as we could. As luck would have it the nearest place was a ice cream shop, so we took a seat..Dad loves ice cream... After the shade and ice cream took affect and Dad was feeling better we headed off to check out the town. They had some very old homes and with cemeteries in the front yard, that way the family could care for them and the grave robbers of the 1800 and 1900's would not get the deceased. During our walk we came upon the local museum with chairs on the porch that looked like crabs.. They were terrific .. We sat awhile on the porch as the museum was closing in 30 minutes and we didn't want to pay to see it and not have time to fully check it out. Tight budget and all.. After our walk we decided to get a bite to eat. As we were nearing the restaurants we were told they all closed at 5pm on Sunday so we had better get a move on. We got to the  Fisherman's with a half hour to spare. The crab was tremendous , Dad order Crab Imperial and I had Crab Bisque ( the best I ever had) with a crab cake sandwich , Carl had an  Oyster Po boy ( that wasn't the best). Turned out the whole town closed at 5pm as it was church at 7pm. So back to the boat we went. This is an island time forgot.. Glad to have gotten a chance to see it..The evening was spent talking to other sailors and taking showers. During the night a strong storm rolled in and all sailors were up tending to their lines. When morning hit we choose to check out another town, since the other sailors said it was the nicest on the Chesapeake Bay. Lines were dropped and Dad put on the drops and off we went. The waves were about 2ft and we did put up our jib sail, having some wind . It was only 12 miles to the next town. Our party arrived Onancock the next anchorage and it looked interesting maybe we had finally hit on a town we would really do some exploring in...The dingy was boarded and a shore we went..It was a nice walk pass many old homes as we got nearer to town. As our luck would have it the entire town was closed on Monday's...Can you believe it, you think someone we talked to would have mentioned that... Nothing to see or do. We did stop at a bakery (the only shop open). to get a cool drink and maybe some bread for dinner. Only this bakery didn't have bread.. what kind of bakery doesn't have bread.. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone.. It turned out the restaurant on the wharf was open so we had a few drinks and dinner, and headed back to the boat. Carl and I took a tour around the anchorage in the dingy.. Now that was fun...Bella was mad as we left her behind to keep dad company. I did the blog from the day before as we didn't have Internet until now with that posted it, we called it a night. So if you are reading this today , please check out what I wrote yesterday, I wouldn't want you to miss anything..
