I opened my eyes to hearing noise on the deck, what was it 6am.. Are you people crazy...Do you know what time it is.. What we get up earlier everyday. Next it will before sunrise... Yes Carl was up pulling the anchor and Dad was on deck watching him. I went immediately to the helm, so I could steer the boat when the anchor was weighed. Carl wanted to get a jump on the day, since we had to cross the bay to get up the river to Steve & Karen's where dad's car was parked and that was about 40 miles. I checked the weather and it said all clear, so off we went.. About an 1.5 hours into it the dark clouds loomed ahead of us, it didn't look good... Carl pulled back on the throttle and we slowed to a snail craw to let the storm pass, and pass it did.. We only got a sprinkling of rain and very little wind. The rest of the crossing was very uneventful..We stopped once again in Irvington to refuel, pump-out and top off the water and we were docked back at Urbanna..Dad and I walked to go get his car ( about a mile) while Carl made sure all was secure with the boat. We got to Steve's and were welcomed back and we talked about what we would do for dinner. Karen had made pasta salad with shrimp. and I had done a pot of beans...Loved it.. Back at the boat we loaded up the laundry and headed to do it.. It was way to hot to do laundry, but we have to do it..Sweat was pouring off us just from walking in there.. All three of us pitched in and we had it done in no time.. Carl headed to the water park to meet Steve and Dad & I headed to the grocery store. Carl sure got the better deal in that.....As Dad and I pull back in the park we see Carl soaking under a water fall and he waves..That's the life, good for what allies you and refreshing at the same time...Groceries were stored and it was back to Steve and Karen's.When it was time for dinner I went to look for Carl only the pool was closed... Where did he get off to.. So I headed for the boat and what do I see..Carl in some guys golf cart cursing the park checking out the ladies..Or at least that's what they told me...When I could get him in the car , we went to meet Dad at Steve's. We had dinner and watched the weather channel and soaked up the A/C.. A much enjoyed down time for all. At 10pm it was time to return to the boat for a little shut eye, Dad would be leaving in the morning... And if you knew my Dad you would know that meant anywhere from 2am on..

  1. Happy 4th of July to all the crew. We think Carl deserves all the time in the pool and golf cart he can get. He works very hard on this trip. I know (LuANNE), because he does my jobs on the boat, plus Lyman's jobs. However, I have to admit Rosie, you are the best and most dedicated blogger we have encountered. We hope you had a good time with your dad on board. We were worried for a few days when we didn't hear from you during the storms. I prayed for your safekeeping and took comfort in knowing that Carl would keep all of you safe with his good judgement. If only he could catch fish!!!
