Points north is exactly what I didn't see yesterday.. We were preparing the boat to leave the dock and Carl was checking all of his fluids, when he realized we needed transmission fluid and we were very low on starting fluid. We needed to get some since this was a large port and it should be easy to find an automotive store. As I left the boat to go ask the tourist information where I might find one, Carl was gonna start the boat and charge it. When my feet hit the dock I saw a log at our stern , I yelled "Carl don't start the boat" he came out to ask why and saw what I was talking about. There was a TREE about 20 feet long stuck between our rudder and prop. This thing was huge, it even had branches on it. Carl got a line around it and tried to pull it straight back but that didn't work, so then he took the line and walked around the port side of the vessel and that broke it free. When it started floating down the river we couldn't believe how big it was!!! We asked a local where all the trees in the water came from and was told there was alot of forest up river and after a storm they tend to fall in the river. Ya think!! The Savannah River is very wide and a fast moving river.. There was no where near the historical downtown area to get the fluids we needed. Everyone we asked wanted to send us to a repair shop, I not sure why guess they thought they would sell us what we needed. A cook in one of the places we were at told me to head up to MLK and Broughtian St, so we jumped on the free trolley and took it almost as far as we could. We talked to some people on the bus who told us to check with the visitor's center at the History Museum and they could tell us better. We went in there and again this man tried to send us to a repair shop, so I asked for the phone book and looked myself. I called one that had a street name I recognized, I was told it was the closest one to where we were 20 blocks. ..If that's 20 blocks, then I'm a beauty queen...The guy at the visitors center did not want us to walk it , but we said we could make it., and off we went.. It didn't take long to see why he didn't want us to walk it, the farther we went the darker it became. Before we knew it we were in the hood!!!! The projects on one side of the street and lots of churches on the other side. A very mean looking man rode by on his bicycle and gave us a look that said.. Hey what are you crackers doing in this side of town....It didn't make you feel safe!!! Even Carl felt a little nervous that we would get robbed, mugged or something not good.. We choose to catch the next bus that went by..Good thing we did too, because a few blocks up there was a barber shop with LOTS of men hanging around on the side walk...Never know what they would have thought of us..We missed our stop and had to walk 3 blocks back to the store, but that was no big deal. We rode the bus back to downtown saved our feet and maybe our butts..This took most of the day.. We had planned to leave with the out going tide to save gas and stress on the motor, but we missed our window of opportunity. So we grabbed Bella and went to a little bar we had been to on Riverstreet and sat outside and watched the people go by. Good to be back where we belonged... I made dinner (fish taco's, no I bought the fish at the store) and walked the boardwalk. Man was it hopping on Friday night !! We say 3 guys singing acappella in the tunnel under the Hilton they were tremendous,..the echo of the tunnel really helped (I tipped them) Then we say a quartet of 4 young men playing, banjo, guitar, mandolin and a fiddle doing bluegrass music, again wonderful!!!!We stayed an listened for a while and it was off to the boat, it was getting late and we had a full day and were pretty tired. Oh and by the way the city knew we were still there so they put on a little nice fireworks show for just us... .This morning we left the dock
