The day began at 6:30 am. I know for some of you your thinking no big deal. I'm always up at that hour and maybe at work. But for me this is a big deal. I'm a night girl not early morning. None the less I persevered. We were gonna put down some serious miles today and we had to make the first bridge opening by 7am and make it we did.. We were moving right along until about an hour up the channel we were told by a bridge tender that he would be happy to open the bridge for us , however we could only go a 1/2 mile past him. The military was doing target practice and the ICW was closed.  That's right shooting...  I think 30mm guns at targets on the other side of the channel ..It would make a big hole in the boat and that would not be good.!!! So we had to sit and wait for 2 hours till they gave the all clear to pass .Carl tried his hand at fishing and we all know how that turned out.. Then we were given the all clear.  They did say to move it along as fast as your boat could go...The base we passed was Camp LeJeune, I think it's training base for the navy as they had Navy gun boats out..The rest of the day was overcast and grey with the winds hollowing at about 15 to 20 mph and gust up to 28 mph!! .On the Atlantic it had winds at 28 mph plus gusts and waves at 6 to 9 feet .You know we couldn't even think of that... but we are just inside the Outer Banks of  N.C .It was a battle all day  and we were blown wickedly every way you could think of.. We fought the wind for as long as we could and anchored in a channel just off of Morehead City. We still made 50 miles...The winds continued  all night long. Luckily we were in a pretty small area so the water was pretty mellow, but the current  was very strong.  One side was docks and the other a small island.. It wasn't awful . Not much time was spent in the cockpit as we had had enough wind.. A pot of black eyed peas was had for dinner, while we listened to the band at a bar across the inlet all night long.. And I mean all night long....Thank  God they were pretty good..Today began with the wind blowing dreadfully strong so we will see how far we get today...
