First of all let me state I wrote the winds wrong yesterday, they were mph not knots. The night brought very strong gusting winds and Windward Spirit was getting pushed around a lot. We were on a mooring ball so it kept blowing us around from side to side, the boat never stopped moving. However thankfully we are in such a small harbor, the waves didn't have enough space to get any height to them so the water was just a little rough. Plus the fact that a huge ferry was parked in front of us for the whole night , helped to keep the winds off us. It was not that bad.. Had we been on the other side of the island it would have been a totally different story. Lucky for us we had engine trouble that brought us over to the leeward side island. Since we wouldn't be  going anywhere today we just hung around the boat for most of the morning. Once we left the boat it was time to return the movies we had rented and walk down the beach to check out the surf. One the way there we meet a couple of girls with surfboards who said they were going surfing, so we followed behind to check it all out. There was surf about knee to thigh but looking pretty good. We told them we were surfers and they said go get your boards and we did. We didn't take my board as I can't surf it anyway, we would just share Carl's. Back at the beach the girls Sara and Hayly were surprised to see us back, in wetsuits and ready to get in. They were out of the water and said I could use one of their boards and they would watch Bella for us... How Cool is that....Bella was somewhat confused with both of us heading into the water, usually one of us is on shore. She tired to follow us in the water. Carl got some good rides right off the bat, not me.. I got out no problem, it's just I haven't surfed much in a while and I couldn't find the sweet spot on that board. Carl had many rides when he headed in so I followed him, I wanted his board. The girls were ready to go, so we returned their board and thanked them, and they were off. Me, I headed back to the water, and I caught my first wave I tried for with Carl's board. Yea baby that's what I'm talking about.... Too bad Sara and Hayly didn't see me... We took turns surfing for a couple of hours and headed back to the boat.  Changed clothes and went back on shore, we noticed the Inn in front of us was having 1/2 price Mohito's  with  a dog patio, so over we went. We meet some people on a tour and they were telling us about the surfers they saw getting on their boat and were surprised to find out it was us. Fun talking to them. Carl knew where there was $2.00 beer so after one drink we headed that way. We had been given a $50 gift card , so we were gonna get Nachos and drinks at the Poor People's Pub... That's the kind of place for us.... Who do we run into there but Sara and Hayly, and more tour people. The girls said my rides didn't happen if they didn't see them.... The weather got pretty cold when the sunset, so I said lets stop by the fire pits we saw at the Inn, we did and all the people  from the tour we had met during the day were all set around it. We joined them and enjoyed at night at fireside with good conversation. Carl had a few people amazed with his stories of our adventures, and Bella had all the rest playing with her.. It was a great day. Now we wait for our weather window . According to the weather reports yesterday, we thought we could move today, but woke up to winds at 19mph with gusts 25mph, and very rough 4 ft seas.. Hopefully tomorrow.... Please we need to head south I'm freezing...

  1. That sounds like a great town. If it wasn't so cold...I'd want to stay longer.
